Program: Assessing the impacts of climate change in the Arctic
Presenter: Emma Reib
Description: Frozen soils in the Arctic are thawing as the Earth’s climate warms, and these thawing soils release ancient organic matter that’s been locked up in ice for thousands of years. In this presentation, I’ll talk about what might happen to this ancient organic matter from Arctic soils once it thaws, and how my PhD research helps us understand these processes. I’ll also describe what it’s like to live and work as a researcher in the Alaskan Arctic.
